They are closely inter-linked.
Self-confidence is how you feel about your ability. A belief, trust or reliability of a person or a thing.
Self-esteem is how you feel about yourself overall, having self-respect, or to have a 'favourable impression of oneself'.
For example, a client may have great overall self-esteem, but have absolutely no confidence in public-speaking, and this may fill them with dread.
Alternatively, a client may be uber-confident in most situations in their lives, and outwardly appear to everyone to have no issue in tackling what others wouldn't do. But internally, they may feel a constant failure, or like they never do well, or achieve high enough, quick enough, efficiently enough.
Low Self-Confidence and low Self-Esteem are feelings many people have at various stages of their lives, for many different reasons.
Through our discussions I can better understand the drivers behind this and how it affects you at different times as an individual.
