What Happens In The Free Consultation

We can talk through the presenting problem, and how Hypnotherapy may be able to help. I can indicate how many sessions I think you may benefit from, but this will be flexible to amendments over the course of your therapy plan.

This is also an opportunity for you to see if you want to work with Tracey as your therapist - a large part of the success of your journey will be down to your rapport with the therapist, and feeling comfortable and at ease is important to the overall aims.

General sessions will last approx 75 minutes. Sessions will generally begin with a discussion about the presenting issues, what's happened since the previous session, other effects, and where we are with your therapy plan. At the end of each session you may be asked to work on some tasks or activities at home prior to the next session.

Can Hypnotherapy Make Me Do Something I Dont Want To Do?

As each individual is different, and their reasons for Hypnotherapy differ, so does the individualised plan devised for them. Additionally, as therapy progresses, the number of sessions may change from those initially predicted.

To ensure a lasting change (and purely as an indication only), most Hypnotherapy clients tend to have between 4 and 6 sessions.

Can Hypnotherapy Make Me Do Something I Dont Want To Do?

No, not at all.

It's important to remember that your hypnotic state is based on you wanting to enter trance, and your wanting to participate in the therapy. It cannot make you breach your own values or behaviours, and you can end it at any time. The therapist is not in control.

Stage Hypnosis is not the same as therapy, and is very much an entertainment act. So the only reason you would pretend to be Elvis Presley, or roar like a lion - is because you want to!

Do I Pay In Advance?

Can Hypnotherapy Make Me Do Something I Dont Want To Do?

Is Hypnotherapy Harmful?

All therapy will need to be paid for in advance of the session.

The full Smoking Cessation programme will require full payment in advance.

During the current lockdown restrictions, payment is by Bank Transfer only. All clients will be sent an invoice to settle before the session(s) happens. I reserve the right to postpone the session if payment has not being received.

No, not at all.

But there are some restrictions on who should receive Hypnotherapy (see below). These can be discussed during your free consultation.

Can Everyone Use Hypnotherapy?

Can Everyone Use Hypnotherapy?

The majority of people can use hypnotherapy safely if they see a Hypnotherapist trained to work with the issues they want to address, and follow the guidelines.

However there are a number of conditions which would stop a client from being able to proceed with therapy, or should be used with extra safeguards and with GP permission:

  • Those with a medical condition such as Alzheimer's
  • If you have a diagnosis of a psychotic illness, or very severe depression
  • If you are addicted to 'hard' drugs
  • If you have recently diagnosed epilepsy, or diabetes, and/or the condition is not effectively managed
  • If you have a recent history of suicidal thoughts, or suicide attempts
  • If you have a serious heart condition
  • If you have a recent history of hospitalisation for eating disorders

In certain circumstances it maybe necessary for a client to visit their GP to rule out or further diagnose medical causes, before beginning hypnotherapy.

Does Hypnotherapy Work?

Can Everyone Use Hypnotherapy?

Can Everyone Use Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy very much depends on you, as you play an important participative role in your therapy.

It is not magic. And if you are looking for someone else to 'wave a wand' then it just won't work. You will need to take responsibility for the changes, and your acceptance of the problem and working on fixing it, is key to the success.

If the only reason you are considering therapy is that someone else thinks there's a problem, but you don't, then the answer is probably no.

But if you are open-minded about the process and you really want to change, whilst taking responsibility for the goals you want to achieve, then the answer is yes.
