There are many types of situation that can introduce a phobic response and many phobias even have their own name. Whether it be spiders, flying, snakes, elevators, heights, birds, cotton wool and so on... there are many triggers, and the overwhelming fear and anxiety that accompanies those events can be incredibly intense.
But the reasoning for many Fears and Phobias lay at the subconscious level of our minds and by definition they are irrational. But it's all in the context and how it applies to you.
Swimming in a lake full of crocodiles would be a perfectly normal scenario to avoid doing, ever. But, if every time you see a crocodile-effect handbag or pair of shoes in a shop you have to leave or walk away, then you probably have a phobia!
That’s why we need to work on them at a deeper level for it to be an effective therapy. We will spend time talking about what those initial events were that caused you to arrive at the level and type of phobia you have today.
Feel in control, relaxed and positive. Let's identify why you have felt the way you have, possibly for a very long time.
